The rise of terrorism and transnational crime has been seen to increase dramatically in the past decade. No longer entirely political or revolutionary in purpose, some kidnappers are simply concerned with financial gain.
Travel Warnings are
issued when the State Department recommends that Americans avoid a certain
country. They also issue Consular
Information Sheets for every
country of the world with information
on such matters as the health conditions,
crime, unusual currency or entry requirements,
any areas of instability, and the location
of the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate
in the subject country.
Yariv served in the IDF School of Counter Terrorism. He completed instructors course first in his class. In 1988 - 1989, he was the commanding officer in charge of the counter terrorism instructor's course. This course is considered to be one of the most rigorous and professional courses in the IDF. In 1989, he was an instructor of dozens of "Special Forces" teams from various units in the IDF including SAYERET MATKAL, SHIMSHON & DUVDEVAN.
He then became commanding officer in charge of IDF special operations in the west bank and the Gaza strip. In 1991, he commanded a special unit engaging in counter terrorism and VIP protection for high ranking officers in the IDF. Yariv was discharged from the IDF in 1992 and joined the Israeli Police Hostage Rescue Unit where he served as an operative and later as a team leader. During his service in this unit, Yariv participated in many special operations.
During the period between 1987 and 1995 Yariv accumulated a vast experience in the field of security and counter terrorism both on the operational side and in the training field. Among other activities Yariv has been trained in various operational skills such as VIP protection, special device operation, and operational rappelling.
